Update 1/16/09
The CAD Department accepts a change of major from current SFSU students who have a GPA of 2.75 or higher. If you meet that requirement and wish to change to the CAD Major, please submit a Change of Major form to SCI 394. Change of Major can most likely be processed the same day.
Students can view additional program information at CAD's Online Advising Support Website or select one of the program details below for more information.
If you are a CAD major, make sure you are subscribed to the CADBA iLearn
site. We will update students with the most recent information coming
out of the CAD office and use it to email students with office
announcements. If you are a CAD major and do not see the CADBA under
your Prog/Org section on iLearn, email your sfsu email address to
cadp@sfsu.edu and we will add you.

| Concentrations |
Students select a concentration from one of four areas based on their career goals.
Young Child and Family:
This concentration has been developed for students who wish
to work primarily in teaching and child care with young children (infants,
toddlers, and preschoolers) and their families in schools and public or
private institutions and agencies that serve this population. The degree
fulfills the requirements for the Child Development Permit issued by the
California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Youth and Family:
This concentration has been developed for students who wish
to work primarily with adolescents and their families in public and private
institutions and agencies. Course work prepares students who wish to work
with this population, or with younger youth and children, in juvenile
justice, recreation, residential treatment, social services, mental health,
and public health. This concentration is also appropriate for students who
wish to work with school age children and youth in out-of-school time
programs.
School Age Child and Family:
This concentration has been developed for students who wish
to work primarily with school age children and their families in a variety
of settings from elementary schools to social service agencies and after
school programs. This concentration is recommended as preparation for
students who wish to become elementary school teachers.
