Advising for Incoming Spring 2023 Transfer Students
Attention incoming Spring 2023 Child & Adolescent Development (CAD) major transfer students:
Orientation
Please sign up for and attend a new student orientation if you haven’t already.
You will be able to register for courses during your orientation.
If you don’t register for orientation, you will have to wait until Open Registration to sign up for Spring 2023 courses.
CAD Major Advising Video
We plan to share a CAD Major Advising video with you in January 2023. Please watch this video before you register for classes. We will email and post the video on our advising website.
CAD Winter Advising Services for New Students (Optional)
Group Advising Workshop
This workshop will present the same information from the CAD Major Advising Video (listed above). There will be time for questions and answers (Q&A). We recommend attending the Group Advising Workshop if you prefer to hear the advising presentation live or want to interact in real time with CAD advisors.

- Tuesday, January 10th from 1-2 pm
Drop-In Advising Hours (5-10 minutes)
If you have quick questions after watching the CAD Major Advising Video, we highly recommend stopping by one of our CAD Drop-In Advising hours. Examples of quick questions:
- Does my community college equivalent course count at SF State?
- Are the classes I signed up for (for spring 2023) the right classes for my CAD requirements?
- The class section I planned to sign up for is full; what should I enroll in?

- Dates: Tuesday, January 10th – Thursday, January 12th
- Time: 2-4 pm
- Join Drop-In Zoom Here - No appointment needed (first-come, first-served basis; about 5-10 minutes per student)
In-Person Orientation Support
For the in-person orientation sessions on January 9th and 13th, CAD advisors are planning to be available to CAD students during the course registration process (@~1:30pm). We still recommend watching the CAD Major Advising Video before your orientation/registration time.
